"We disciples, from anādikāla until this day, have accumulated avidyā that obstructs our hearts and eyes, and following the nature of kleśas have committed sinful karmas in the three times: either indulging in attachment and generating the kleśas of greed and desire; or harbouring the kleśas of wrath, fury, and malice; or the kleśas of confusion, daze, and lack of understanding; or the kleśas of arrogance, self-exaltation, and haughtiness; or the kleśas of doubting the correct path and hesitating; or the kleśas of false views that slander [the law of] cause and effect as non-existent; or the kleśas of not recognizing provisional conditioned arising and grasping at a self; or the kleśas of being deluded about the three times and grasping at annihilationism or eternalism; or the kleśas of associating with evil phenomena and giving rise to the grasping of views (dṛṣṭi-parāmarśa); or the kleśas of wrongly receiving [teachings from] heterodox masters and producing the grasping of rules and vows (śīlavrata-parāmarśa); and down to the kleśas of the four graspings and arbitrary reckonings on a par with these—today with supreme sincerity we pay namas and make kṣamā.
