At that time, Baoda Bodhisattva went further into a hell named the Iron Clothes Hell. That hell was sixteen yojanas in length, breadth, and circumference. In that hell there were iron caltrops, sharp as sword points, spread completely over the ground. Smoke and flames blazed intensely, iron garments burned with fire, and the blazing heat of the fires roamed throughout the hell. At the eastern gate there were eight hundred śramaṇas looking up to heaven and crying out, beating their chests and wailing loudly, uttering these words: 'What offense have I committed today to enter this place?' Rolling on the ground, they could not move forward. A horse-headed rākṣasa held a three-pronged iron fork in his hand; aiming at their backs he struck through, coming out of the front of their chests, their whole bodies ablaze with fire. The horse-headed rākṣasa held an iron hook in his hand, aiming at their skeletons to hook them; wherever the iron hook caught, flames arose together with it. The sinners writhed and were unwilling to come; the horse-headed rākṣasa held an iron club in his hand, aiming at their heads to hammer them. There were also iron dogs that came to eat their flesh, and hungry ghosts that came to drink their blood. The iron garments in that hell flew about wildly to attach to the sinners, some attaching to their heads, some attaching to their feet, their whole bodies ablaze with fire, undergoing immeasurable punishment day and night.
