The sūtra says: “If there is a kulaputra or kuladhitā who hears the names of these Buddhas of the three periods of time and three kalpas, rejoices with faith and delight, praises and extols them, takes refuge and makes prostration with the head; and furthermore can copy them down, explain them for others, or can paint and erect images of the Buddhas, or can make offerings with incense, flowers, and music, praising the Buddhas' merits and making prostration with a resolute mind—this surpasses giving gifts for hundreds of thousands of kalpas with the lands of the Buddhas of the ten directions completely filled with rare treasures, purely of maṇi jewels, piled up to the Brahmā realm. Such a kulaputra or kuladhitā, having already made offerings to these Buddhas, will successively serve the Buddhas in the places where they are reborn in the future without end until they attain Buddhahood. They shall all receive predictions of Buddhahood from the Buddhas throughout the three periods of time and three kalpas. Wherever they are born, they will constantly encounter the Three Jewels, be reborn in the buddhakṣetras of the Buddhas, possess the six sense faculties complete and intact, not fall into the eight conditions of lack of leisure, and will attain the thirty-two major marks and eighty minor marks of the Buddhas, fully adorned. If one can make prostration by casting the five limbs to the ground and proclaim with one's mouth: ‘I now pay universal homage to all the Buddhas of the ten directions and the three periods of time. May the three lower realms cease their suffering, may the land be abundant and the people at peace, may sentient beings of wrong views turn toward the right path and give rise to bodhicitta; taking this merit, I vow together with all sentient beings of the six destinies that all may be born in the land of Amitāyus.’ Making such a great vow, cause all sentient beings to be born in that realm, their bodies bearing all major and minor marks, with wisdom and eloquence like Amitābha; the fruit and retribution they obtain will be majestic and magnificent, with boundless lifespan.”
