"The evil person who breaks the precepts sees the Buddha, arhats, and pure bhikṣus—fields of merit endowed with virtue—and pursues, reviles, slanders, and defames them. Drinking poison themselves, blood appears all over their body, and fire blazes from joint to joint. Wild, foolish, and devoid of wisdom, the fierce wind of the fetters and proclivities stirs the mountain of afflictions: lust is their eyes, anger their hands and feet, and delusion their body. Trampling upon the world, they plant evil seeds; having planted them themselves, they furthermore teach others to seek them. The hell wardens, rākṣasas, ox-headed Ābhangas, evil ghosts of the conflagration of the kalpa, spirits of the sword-forest, King Yama, and the other eighteen lords of hell constantly serve as their great intimates and supreme good spiritual friends, and they are certain to wander and abide day and night with such a kind of hell.
