2.13

「俄頃之間到道樹邊，一時雲集欲興惡逆。菩薩是時儼然不動，入勝意慈。魔王譸張奮武振吼，勅諸兵眾：『汝等速疾逼害瞿曇。』上震天雷雨熱鐵丸，刀輪武器更相加積交橫空中，四面諸鬼同時俱作，然其火箭不近菩薩。

In an instant, they arrived beside the Tree of the Path, gathering at once like clouds, intending to commit evil and rebellion. At that time, the Bodhisattva remained dignified and motionless, entering the supreme contemplation of loving-kindness. The demon king raged deceitfully, brandishing his weapons and roaring, commanding all the troops: “Quickly press in and harm Gautama!” Above, heavenly thunder rumbled, raining down heated iron balls; wheel-knives and weapons piled up one upon another, crisscrossing in the sky. All the ghosts from the four sides attacked simultaneously, but their fire arrows did not approach the Bodhisattva.
