"At that time, the sage king said to Sudatta: 'The old woman of your household possesses majestic and imposing marks; I now wish to take her to serve as the jeweled woman.' Sudatta replied: 'I obey your command entirely; I wish to offer her to the Great King.' Hearing that she was freed, the old maidservant was overjoyed beyond measure. The sage king then illuminated the woman's face with a wish-fulfilling jewel, causing the woman to see herself as a jeweled woman. She was redoubled in great joy and said: 'Those ascetics boast and talk big, claiming to possess the Way without a single proof. The sage king's appearance in the world brings vast and abundant benefits, causing my old and decrepit self to become like a jeweled woman.' Having said this, she threw her five limbs to the ground in homage to the sage king. Then the minister of the treasury proclaimed the king's gracious edict, promulgating the teaching of the ten good actions. Hearing the ten good actions, the woman's heart was filled with great joy, and she thought: 'What the sage king teaches contains nothing that is not good.' She bowed to the king, repented and blamed herself, and her heart was instantly subdued.
