6.35

「時羅睺羅還復本身，老母舉頭見千二百五十比丘，即作此言：『佛法清淨不捨眾生，如我弊惡猶尚化度。』作是語已求受五戒。時羅睺羅為說三歸受五戒法，母聞此法未舉頭頃成須陀洹。地神歡喜從地踊出告須達言：『善哉長者！裂邪見網，如來出世正為此耳！』

"Then Rāhula reverted to his original form. The old woman lifted her head and saw the one thousand two hundred and fifty monks; thereupon she said: 'The Buddha's Dharma is pure and does not abandon sentient beings, transforming and liberating even someone decrepit and wicked like me.' Having spoken these words, she sought to receive the five precepts. Then Rāhula explained the three refuges and conferred the five precepts on her. Upon hearing this Dharma, before she could even raise her head, she became a srotāpanna. The earth deity rejoiced and, welling up from the earth, said to Sudatta: 'Excellent, elder! You have torn the net of wrong views. It is precisely for this that the Tathāgata appears in the world!'
