Then, from within Lady Māyā's palace, fifty billion beams of light spontaneously surged forth. Within this light were great jeweled terraces, upon each of which sat Buddhas of the ten directions. These Buddhas each spoke their own names to comfort the Buddha's mother: In the east, Good Virtue Buddha, holding wonderful jeweled flowers, scattered them over Śākyamuni and Māyā, transforming into a canopy of flowers, within which ten billion transformation Buddhas joined their palms, stood up, and inquired after the Buddha's mother; in the south, Candana Virtue Buddha, holding jeweled lotuses, scattered them over Śākyamuni and the Buddha's mother, transforming into a canopy of flowers, within which countless transformation Buddhas joined their palms, stood up, and inquired after the Buddha's mother; in the west, Immeasurable Light Buddha, holding jeweled lotuses, scattered them over Śākyamuni and the Buddha's mother, transforming into a canopy of flowers, within which countless transformation Buddhas joined their palms, stood up, and inquired after the Buddha's mother; in the north, Mark Virtue Buddha, holding jeweled lotuses, scattered them over Śākyamuni and the Buddha's mother, transforming into a canopy of flowers, within which countless transformation Buddhas joined their palms, stood up, and inquired after the Buddha's mother. In the southeast, Sorrow-Free Virtue Buddha; in the southwest, Jewel Giving Buddha; in the northwest, Flower Virtue Buddha; in the northeast, Three Vehicles Practice Buddha; in the zenith, Vast Multitude Virtue Buddha; and in the nadir, Bright Virtue Buddha—such Buddhas each took jeweled flowers and scattered them over Śākyamuni Buddha and the Buddha's mother, transforming into canopies of flowers, within each of which countless transformation Buddhas joined their palms, stood up, and inquired after the Buddha's mother.
