“By the power of the radiance of this white hair, the Bodhi tree had an adamantine trunk and adamantine roots, was adorned with the seven jewels, and light arose upon its adornments. Each had sevenfold [radiance] encircling the Buddha’s body, transforming into jewelled draperies. The tree leaves were golden, the flowers possessed the colors of a hundred jewels, and upon the flowers was radiance with the colors of hundreds of thousands of jewels—the jewelled light of the devas could offer no comparison. The fruits were the color of white jewels, with which the subtle white jewels in the Yāma Heaven could bear no comparison. The fruits’ radiance transformed into a network of maṇi jewels that covered the tree, and within that net, like white silk, it wound and hung down, transforming into jewelled bells.
