"How does one contemplate the Tathāgata's ears? The ears emit five lights; their light has a thousand colors, each color holds a thousand transformation Buddhas, and each Buddha emits a thousand lights. Such radiance shines everywhere across the immeasurable worlds of the ten directions and transforms into a single flower. That flower is exceedingly large, its measure impossible to know; none can know it except through the Buddha's mental power. Within this lotus flower, hundreds of thousands of koṭis of immeasurable Buddha-realms all appear. Hundreds of thousands of koṭis of great bodhisattvas sit upon a single filament of the lotus flower; the filament is not large and the bodhisattvas are not small, yet they do not obstruct one another. These bodhisattvas' ears hang low everywhere like golden lotus flowers suspended in the sunlight, and five lights also swirl forth from their ears. When this mark appears, the hairs in the Buddha's ears are like the Pārijātaka tree of Śakra, delightful for all to see."
