At that time, the Bhagavat emitted light from his uṣṇīṣa. The light had a thousand colors, and each color divided into eighty-four thousand rays. Within each ray were eighty-four thousand wondrous transformation Buddhas. The bodies of those transformation Buddhas were boundless in stature. Light was also emitted from atop the heads of the transformation Buddhas, light after light in succession reaching upward to immeasurable worlds. In the upper worlds, transformation bodhisattvas, like clouds and motes of dust, descended from the sky and surrounded the Buddhas. When this light appeared, the Buddhas of worlds as numerous as motes of dust in the ten directions were also all seen. This light shone directly upon the crowns of those Buddhas, and those Buddhas emitted light which also illuminated the crown of Śākyamuni.
