"Then a vajra deity, holding a great vajra club in his hand, multiplied into countless transformation bodies. Fire burned from the heads of the clubs like whirling wheels of fire, wheel following upon wheel, descending from the sky, with scorching flames like molten copper, burning the bodies of the wicked nāgas. The nāga king was terrified; with nowhere to flee or hide, he fled into the Buddha's shadow. The Buddha's shadow was cool and refreshing, as if sprinkled with sweet dew. Having his heat dispelled, the nāga looked up at the sky, which was filled with Buddhas. Each Tathāgata emitted countless rays of light; within each ray of light were immeasurable transformation Buddhas; and each transformation Buddha also emitted countless hundreds of thousands of rays of light. Within all those rays of light were vajra deities brandishing vajra clubs. Seeing the Buddhas, the nāgas were exceedingly joyful; seeing the vajra deities, they were exceedingly terrified. With joined palms and reverent respect, they paid homage to the Buddha, and the five rākṣasīs also made obeisance to the Tathāgata. Then the devaputras rained down māndārava flowers, mahāmāndārava flowers, mañjūṣaka flowers, and mahāmañjūṣaka flowers as offerings. Heavenly drums sounded of themselves, and the devas, with hands clasped, stood in attendance in the sky.
