"Then, having heard these words, the women felt shame and remorse, threw themselves on the ground, beat their heads with their hands, and said: 'Alas! How evil is desire, that it causes the Buddhas to speak of such matters! We harbored evil minds and clung to foul desires, unaware of their perils, thereby causing the Buddhas to hear of such depravities. It is as if a raging fire is burning us!' While they were saying these words, they saw all the transformation Buddhas in the empty sky broadly expounding the contemplation of impurity for the women—namely: the nine contemplations, the ten contemplations, the thirty contemplations, and the counting of breaths in ānāpāna. Hearing the contemplation of impurity expounded, the women took joy in the Dharma and joy in dhyāna, no longer taking joy in sensual craving.
