The Buddha commanded Ānanda: “After the Buddha's parinirvāṇa, when disciples of the Buddha wish to contemplate the Tathāgata’s hidden equine-sheath mark, they should contemplate it in this way. Contemplating it in this way is called right contemplation; if one contemplates otherwise, it is called wrong contemplation. After the Buddha's parinirvāṇa, if any of the Buddha's disciples focus their minds, maintain right mindfulness, and contemplate the marks of the Buddha's pure conduct and the radiance of the transformation Buddhas, they will constantly see the Buddhas of the ten directions in their dreams. Such persons will constantly cultivate pure conduct life after life, and will eliminate the transgressions of birth and death for two hundred thousand kalpas.”
