The Buddha told Ānanda: "If there are sentient beings who wish to contemplate the seated image, they should contemplate in this manner. Contemplating in this manner is called right contemplation. If one contemplates otherwise, it is called wrong contemplation. If there are sentient beings who contemplate the seated image, they eliminate the sins of birth and death spanning five hundred koṭis of kalpas. In the future they will encounter the thousand Buddhas of the Bhadrakalpa. After passing the Bhadrakalpa, within the Nakṣatrakalpa, they will encounter Buddhas numbering fully one hundred thousand. At the place of each Buddha, they will receive and uphold the Buddha's words, and their bodies and minds will be tranquil and never confused; each Bhagavat will confer a prediction upon them face to face, and after countable kalpas have passed, they will attain Buddhahood."
