"When this visualization is accomplished, one should be mindful of the Tathāgata's precept-body. While mindful of the precept-body, one sees the shadows of the Buddhas, with the light between their brows like white silk, pure in the open sky, approaching before the practitioner. Having seen this, the practitioner should form this thought: 'Śākyamuni, Tathāgata, Arhat, Samyaksaṃbuddha, in past ages adorned himself with the great precept-body; therefore today he has attained morality, concentration, wisdom, liberation, and the knowledge and vision of liberation.' When this thought is formed, Śākyamuni Buddha sits in a lapis-lazuli cave, his body purplish-golden, dignified, and subtle, with monks, bodhisattvas, and the great assembly as his retinue, standing before the practitioner and addressing them: 'Son of the Dharma! Because of the power of your cultivation of the buddhānusmṛti-samādhi, I display my rūpakāya to you with the power of the marks of nirvāṇa, so that you may carefully contemplate it. Sitting in meditation now, you must not contemplate too many [features]. People of future ages will commit many evil deeds; let them simply contemplate the light of the mark of the white curl between the eyebrows. When performing this contemplation, the realm seen will be as spoken above.' At that time, in a single thought with the mind unattached, one's heart is filled with great joy, and one immediately attains the buddhānusmṛti-samādhi. As for the buddhānusmṛti-samādhi: one sees the Buddha's rūpakāya clearly and distinctly, and also sees all the realms of the Buddha's mind—as spoken above regarding contemplating the Buddha's mind; one also sees all the lights of the Buddha's body—as spoken above regarding contemplating the light of the Buddha's body; one also sees all the pores of the Buddha's body, each pore giving birth to eighty-four thousand lotuses, and each lotus further containing eighty-four thousand transformation Buddhas, Buddha after Buddha in succession filling the realms of the ten directions.
