1.38

「十方天下比丘，無有如羅雲持戒者。羅雲持戒有四因緣：一者、自念言：『我為佛子。』二者、謂命持多；三者、常自念：『我為沙門。』四者、持戒常欲勝餘比丘。

"Among the monks of the ten directions in the world, there are none who observe the precepts like Rāhula. Rāhula's observance of the precepts has four reasons: first, he thinks to himself: 'I am the Buddha's son.' Second, he considers observing them to be life itself. Third, he constantly thinks to himself: 'I am a śramaṇa.' Fourth, in observing the precepts, he always wishes to excel other monks."
