The Buddha said: 'There was a monk sitting in the mountains who let out a sigh. A person asked the monk: "You practice the Way; why do you sigh?" The monk replied: "When I was in hell, the five poisons were exceedingly painful. Now that I have obtained a human body and have also met with the Buddha's scriptures and precepts, yet have still not attained the Way, I fear that upon dying I will fall into those evil destinies again; for this reason I sigh!" As a monk, he also worries about worldly people, he worries about the scriptures and precepts, and he worries about himself. A good state of mind cannot always be maintained; when conditions arise, he thinks of wife, children, and wealth—this leads to falling into the evil destinies.'
