於是圓覺菩薩在大眾中即從座起，頂禮佛足右遶三匝，長跪叉手而白佛言：「大悲世尊！為我等輩廣說淨覺種種方便，令末世眾生有大增益。世尊！我等今者已得開悟，若佛滅後末世眾生未得悟者，云何安居修此圓覺清淨境界？此圓覺中三種淨觀以何為首？唯願大悲為諸大眾及末世眾生施大饒益。」作是語已五體投地，如是三請終而復始。

Thereupon, the bodhisattva Pūrṇabodha rose from his seat in the midst of the great assembly, bowed his head at the Buddha's feet, circumambulated him three times to the right, knelt on both knees with palms joined, and addressed the Buddha, saying: "O Bhagavat of Great Compassion! You have expounded at length the various upāyas of pure enlightenment for us, bringing great benefit to sentient beings of the latter age. Bhagavat, we have now attained awakening; but if, after the Buddha's parinirvāṇa, sentient beings of the latter age have not yet attained awakening, how should they make a peaceful dwelling to cultivate this pure realm of perfect enlightenment? Among the three kinds of pure contemplations in this perfect enlightenment, which is primary? We only pray that the Great Compassionate One will bestow great benefit upon the great assembly and sentient beings of the latter age." Having spoken these words, he threw his five limbs to the ground, repeating this plea three times from beginning to end.
