Purisesūti bodhisattassa pitaraṃ ādiṃ katvā kesuci manussesu purisādhippāyacittaṃ nuppajjati. Bodhisattamāturūpaṃ pana kusalā sippikā potthakammādīsupi kātuṃ na sakkonti. Taṃ disvā purisassa rāgo nuppajjatīti na sakkā vattuṃ, sace pana taṃ rattacitto upasaṅkamitukāmo hoti, pādā na vahanti, dibbasaṅkhalikā viya bajjhanti. Tasmā ‘‘anatikkamanīyā’’tiādi vuttaṃ.

“Towards men” means that beginning with the Bodhisatta’s father, a thought of sexual desire towards any man does not arise. Indeed, even skilled artisans are unable to produce the likeness of the Bodhisatta’s mother in clay models and the like. One cannot say that lust does not arise in a man seeing her; but if a lustful man wishes to approach her, his feet do not carry him, bound as if by celestial chains. Therefore, it is said “unassailable” and so forth.
