Te na sunimmadayāti te āmagandhā sunimmadayā sukhena nimmadetabbā pahātabbā na honti, duppajahā dujjayāti attho. Yassa dāni bhavaṃ govindo kālaṃ maññatīti ‘‘yassā pabbajjāya bhavaṃ govindo kālaṃ maññati, ayameva hotu, evaṃ sati mayhampi tava santike āgamanaṃ svāgamanaṃ bhavissati, kathitadhammakathā sukathitā bhavissati, tvaṃ tāta sakalajambudīpe aggapuriso daharo paṭhamavaye ṭhito, evaṃ mahantaṃ nāma sampattisirivilāsaṃ pahāya tava pabbajanaṃ nāma gandhahatthino ayabandhanaṃ chinditvā gamanaṃ viya atiuḷāraṃ, buddhatanti nāmesā’’ti mahāpurisassa daḷhīkammaṃ katvā brahmā sanaṅkumāro brahmalokameva gato.

“They are not easily crushed” means: those putrid odors are not easily crushed, cannot be easily overcome and abandoned; they are hard to abandon, hard to conquer—this is the meaning. “For whatever, sir Govinda, you now deem the time” means: “For whatever going forth, sir Govinda, you deem the time, let it be just so. This being the case, my coming into your presence will indeed be a welcome coming; the Dhamma talk spoken will indeed be well spoken. My dear, you are the foremost man in the whole of Jambudīpa, young and standing in the prime of youth; that you should abandon such great splendor and glory of fortune and go forth is exceedingly magnificent, like an elephant with scented secretions breaking an iron chain and going on its way. Indeed, such is the lineage of the Buddhas.” Having thus confirmed the Great Being, Brahmā Sanaṅkumāra went back to the Brahmā world alone.
