Sohaṃ, bhanteti so ahaṃ bhante, vālukaṃ pīḷetvā telaṃ alabhamāno viya titthiyavādesu sāraṃ alabhanto bhagavantaṃ pucchāmīti attho.
‘I, Bhante’: I, Bhante, like one squeezing sand and not getting oil, unable to get any essence in the doctrines of the sectarians, ask the Blessed One—this is the meaning.
