Issāmacchariyasaṃyojanāti parasampattikhīyanalakkhaṇā issā, attasampattiyā parehi sādhāraṇabhāvassa asahanalakkhaṇaṃ macchariyaṃ, issā ca macchariyañca saṃyojanaṃ etesanti issāmacchariyasaṃyojanā. Ayamettha saṅkhepo. Vitthārato pana issāmacchariyāni abhidhamme vuttāneva.

“Fettered by envy and stinginess”: envy has the characteristic of resenting the success of others; stinginess has the characteristic of not tolerating sharing one’s own success with others; they whose fetter is envy and stinginess are “fettered by envy and stinginess.” This is the concise account here. But in detail, envy and stinginess have been stated in the Abhidhamma itself.
