Idāni yathā vā gharāvāso saṇṭhapetabbo, tathā ovadanto catudhā vibhaje bhogetiādimāha. Tattha sa ve mittāni ganthatīti so evaṃ vibhajanto mittāni ganthati nāma abhejjamānāni ṭhapeti. Yassa hi bhogā santi, so eva mitte ṭhapetuṃ sakkoti, na itaro.

Now, instructing on how the household should be established, he said, “Let him divide his wealth into four,” and so forth. There, “He indeed binds friends” means that dividing [his wealth] in this way, he establishes friends unbreakable. For he who has wealth can indeed maintain friends, not the other.
