‘‘Pāṇātipātā viramāmi khippaṃ,
Loke adinnaṃ parivajjayāmi;
Amajjapo no ca musā bhaṇāmi,
Sakena dārena ca homi tuṭṭho’’ti. (vi. va. 1225-1227; pe. va. 204-206);

From the taking of life do I refrain, from this moment; I abstain from taking that which is not given to me in this world;
I drink not strong drink; I speak not falsely; I am content with my own wife.
