In the seventh, “that the great ocean”: at the time when, with the rising of the fifth sun, the great ocean dries up. “The making of an end of suffering”: I do not speak of the making of an end—the delimitation—of the suffering of the round [of rebirth] for those who are still shrouded by ignorance, not having penetrated the four truths. “A dog tied by a leash”: a dog bound with a leash. “To a post”: to a large post hammered into the earth. “To a pillar”: to a pillar planted and erected. “Even so indeed”: here, the fool dependent on the round of rebirth is to be understood like the dog; wrong view, like the leash; individual personality, like the pillar; and just like the revolving around the pillar by the dog tied to the pillar with a leash, so is the revolving around individual personality by the ordinary person bound to individual personality by wrong view and craving. The seventh.
