sūtra, you will enter into enlightenment." / The Bhagavān addressed the long-attendant retinue: "If sinful persons desire to confess their sins, let them, like Prince Subhadarśana, visualize individually the buddhas of the three times, the twelve divisions of scripture, and the great saṅgha of bodhisattvas, and pay homage to them with the perception that it is like meeting or seeing me. Conceiving the thought of one buddha, two buddhas, ten buddhas, a hundred buddhas, a thousand buddhas, ten thousand buddhas, or immeasurable buddhas, visualizing as if seeing them, if they thus mentally pay homage while visualizing individually, they will obtain immeasurable merit, and all the heavy sins of saṃsāra will also be dispelled. For immeasurable aeons, they will not fall into the three bad migrations, and they will surely and without doubt abide happily in the Buddha's dharma. Therefore, if one confesses and discloses one's sins, and generates faith from the bottom of one's heart, the sins will be purified without a doubt." / Then Prince Subhadarśana and the three thousand men raised their voices in unison and addressed this verse of praise to the Bhagavān: / "The Bhagavān is loving and vastly compassionate, / the sovereign of the dharma from the Śākya clan. / Roaring with a lion's roar amid the gathering, / he gathers sentient beings far and wide / just as a father gazes upon his only child, / without any discrimination at all. / Having beheld such an unsurpassed one, / we therefore respectfully pay homage!" / Then the Bhagavān spoke thus to Prince Subhadarśana and the three thousand men: / "Noble sons, because you have repented in this way, confessing and disclosing with a mind free of concealment, you are now called bodhisattvas. In future times, you will surely attain buddhahood. Noble sons, furthermore, if after my parinirvāṇa anyone is able to pay homage from the bottom of their heart to the Tathāgatas of the ten directions,
