the twelve divisions of scripture, and the saṅgha of bodhisattvas, that is called repaying the kindness of the Three Jewels. Instantly, the ten non-virtuous actions, the five actions of immediate consequence, and the sin of denigrating sameness will be purified; and to those worthy of entering the stream, he grants the fruit of stream-entry; to those worthy of once-returning, he grants the fruit of once-returning; to those worthy of non-returning, he grants the fruit of non-returning; to those worthy of becoming an arhat, he grants the fruit of arhatship; to those worthy of becoming a pratyekabuddha, he grants the fruit of a pratyekabuddha; and to those worthy of becoming a bodhisattva, he grants the fruit of a bodhisattva. At present, within this sūtra, the bodhisattva mahāsattvas' attainment of the true characteristic in a single lifetime is also the reward of paying homage to the buddhas of the ten directions and the three times. Bodhisattvas' attainment of the dharmadhātu in two lifetimes is also the reward of paying homage to the buddhas of the three times. Bodhisattvas' attainment of the wisdom that arrives at the true limit is also the reward of paying homage to the buddhas of the three times. Some bodhisattvas' realization of the ultimate truth is also the reward of paying homage to the buddhas of the three times. Some bodhisattvas' possession of the śūraṃgama samādhi is also the reward of paying homage to the buddhas of the three times. Some bodhisattvas' possession of the gaganagañja samādhi and the jñānamudrā samādhi is also the reward of paying homage to the buddhas of the three times. Some bodhisattvas' possession of the avaivartika patience, the patience of dharma-giving, and the realm of the true nature of things is also the reward of paying homage to the buddhas of the three times. Some bodhisattvas' possession of the mind of great mindfulness of dhāraṇī and of self-cognizing wisdom is also the reward of paying homage to the buddhas who have departed in the three times.
