beings being delivered from the ocean of suffering; and for the sake of ordinary beings desiring to practice filial piety toward their parents, this light has shone forth." At that time, ten thousand bodhisattvas in that assembly who were leaders and teachers of the multitude rose from their seats, placed their upper robes over one shoulder, knelt with their right knee on the ground, and said to that Bhagavān: "By the blessing of the Bhagavān, may we be blessed to go to that world realm Sahā, make offerings and pay respect to the Tathāgata Śākyamuni, and hear the holy sūtra of the Buddha's Great Skill in Means of Repaying Kindness!" Then that Buddha said to the bodhisattvas: "Noble sons, when you arrive in that world realm Sahā, you should make offerings and pay respect to that Buddha, the Bhagavān, and conceive the notion that he is extremely difficult to encounter. Why is that? Because the Buddha Śākyamuni, throughout incalculable millions of eons, practiced what is extremely difficult to practice, and with great compassion made this aspiration: 'When I attain awakening, in a world realm that is sinful, where there are mountains, uneven places, shards, gravel, thorns, and so forth, and where the sentient beings are afflicted with defilements and fully commit the five inexpiables and the ten non-virtuous actions—in that place, having fully awakened, may I eliminate all suffering for their benefit and happiness, endow them with all happiness, bring the Dharmakāya to completion, and pass into nirvāṇa without remainder!' He made that initial aspiration; therefore, when you reach that world realm, conduct yourselves just as the Buddha himself walks, and just as the Buddha himself resides."
