are as tall as the flight of an arrow, fully adorned with flowers, fruits, branches, and leaves. Stirred by gentle winds, they produce melodious sounds, hearing which ordinary beings never tire. Here and there are springs, small lakes, and bathing ponds, filled to the brim with water endowed with the eight qualities, and the pond beds are strewn with golden sand. On the four sides of the ponds are pleasantly fragrant padma, puṇḍarīka, pāruṣaka, and other blue, yellow, red, and white flowers, the size of carriage wheels, completely covering the surface of the water. On that water, diverse kinds of birds also emit exceedingly delightful and melodious sounds. In those ponds are boats made of the seven precious substances, in which many beings play and enjoy themselves as they wish. Between those jewel trees are arranged lion thrones, one yojana in height, adorned with the seven kinds of jewels. Divine garments are draped in layers upon the thrones, divine incense diffuses fragrance, and divine flowers are spread out as carpets. On that throne, the Tathāgata Candrasūryapradīpaprabha sat cross-legged. Boundless hundreds of thousands of millions of bodhisattvas lined up before him, joined their palms, bowed down, and addressed that Tathāgata in unison: "Bhagavān, by what cause and what condition has this fine light, endowed with the colors blue, yellow, red, and white, utterly clear and beyond compare, shone from the eastern direction upon this great assembly, such that everyone touched by the light has become blissful in body and mind? Out of compassion, may the Bhagavān please explain!" Thereupon that Bhagavān replied: "Noble sons, listen well and keep it well in mind, and I shall reveal it to you
