piṭaka. The aspect is worldly and transcendent. The essence is the abiding of mind on a virtuous one-pointedness of mind. The side is the side of tranquility, the side of insight, and whatever is the side of the unified path. What is all meditative concentration? It is of two types: worldly and transcendent. That is also, as appropriate, of three types: meditative concentration that abides in bliss in this life, meditative concentration that accomplishes the qualities of a bodhisattva's samādhi, and meditative concentration that works for the welfare of sentient beings. What is difficult meditative concentration? It is of three types: from the abode of highly habituated, diverse, vast accomplishments of a bodhisattva's abiding in meditative concentration, voluntarily reversing that supreme bliss of meditative concentration to be born in the desire realm for the sake of sentient beings; based on meditative concentration, accomplishing immeasurable, innumerable, and inconceivable bodhisattva meditative concentrations that genuinely surpass the entire domain of śrāvakas and pratyekabuddhas; and, based on meditative concentration, manifestly and completely awakening to unexcelled, completely perfect awakening. What is meditative concentration through every door? It is of four types: with coarse investigation, with subtle investigation, possessed of joy, possessed of sequential bliss, and possessed of equanimity. What is the meditative concentration of a superior person? It is of five types: without tasting flavor, possessed of love, possessed of compassion, possessed of joy, and possessed of equanimity. What is meditative concentration of all aspects? It has six qualities and seven aspects, which together comprise thirteen
