تعالی الله یکی مرغ شکرخا که نطقش همچو جان در دل کند جا فصاحت در زبانش بود یکسر چو اندر صفحهآ شمشیر گوهر صیاد را از شکرخایی طوطی شیرین زبان عجب آمد و برای صید او دام را ساخته کردن گرفت، طوطی صیاد را آواز داد و نزدیک خویش خواند و بهوی گفت: برای گرفتن من چندین مکر و داستان چه میسازی و چندین دام حیله و تدبیر چه راست میکنی که من خود بهدام تو آمدهام و بند قفس تنگ دلگیر را بر صحرای گشاده و مرغزار جان پرور اختیار کرده، بیت:

Exalted is God! A sugar-chewing bird / whose speech makes its home in the heart like life itself.
Eloquence was entirely upon its tongue / like the watered steel upon the blade of a sword.
The hunter was astonished by the sugar-chewing of the sweet-spoken parrot and began to prepare a snare to capture it.
The parrot called out to the hunter, summoned him close, and said to him, “Why do you prepare so many
wiles and contrivances to seize me, and why do you arrange so many snares of cunning and stratagem, when I myself have walked into your trap
and have preferred the confines of a narrow, dispiriting cage over the open plain and the soul-nourishing meadow? Couplet:
