کریمی ار نسب خویش را نهان دارد چو رو در آینهای کرد صنعهاش بدید نسیم مشک نهان کرد کی توان یک ره به پرده طلعت خورشید کی توان پوشید اگر مرا به تحقیق این گمان و تصدیق این تفرس شرف اعلام ارزانی داری و پری کردار سخن در پرده گفتن بگذاری و نقاب از چهرهآ این کار مشکل بازگشایی لواحق بدایع اشفاق بر الطاف و مواهب سابق تو منضم گردد و از مکارم عنصر لطیف تو غریب و عجیب نبود، سمنبر از ابر دو چشم صد هزار قطرات اشک بر گل لعل رخساره فرو بارید و پروین را با ماه منیر مجتمع و مقرون گردانید و بهسان ماتم زدگان دمهای سرد برآورد و گفت:

‘Though a noble person should conceal their lineage, / when they look into a mirror, their crafts are seen.
How can the scent of musk ever be hidden at once? / How can the sun’s countenance be concealed beneath a veil?’
