so that the silver chamomile dawned smiling, / as a tender maid smiled—what a smile!—
and the blossoms in it are like exquisite necklets, / holding pearls of raindrops not yet strung!
If you do not act with rectitude like the cypress in explaining that aim and mentioning that desired matter, and do not become eloquent
like the lily, I shall turn the water-blue, lotus-like surface of the earth into a tulip garden with your blood,
and with an arrow-head like a willow leaf I shall tear your chest into pieces like the petal of a rose, and like the violet I shall pull your tongue out through your nape
and hang you head downward like the fruit of a tree!' When the flower-seller saw that the room for excuse was narrow and the hand
of stratagem was under a stone, he disclosed in full detail to the king's luminous mind that which had been verified by him from the course of events.
Eagerness to meet and desire to consort with us carried the king away, and thinking
about the contrivance to attain that goal distracted him from all other affairs of state. The narrator of this story related further
that on the next day, when the supreme luminary, like Moses, began to traverse the green sea of the sky, and the army of the planets
he said that the next day, when the greatest luminary, like Moses, set forth on its course across the green sea of the sky, and the army of planets
