He was an old Shaikh who took up his residence in Sambhal. Miyan Hatim of Sambhal was his pupil, and used sometimes to visit him and request him to put up a fatihah on his behalf. On one occasion I, when I was in attendance on the late Miyan Hatim in my childhood, had the honour of waiting upon the Maulana.
