Ascended the throne by the consent of the nobles, and when ‘Abdu-r-Razzaq ibn Ahmad Maimandi who had been sent by the Amir Maudud towards Seistan arrived at a fort between Bust and Isfizar, and learned that ‘Abdu-r-Rashid ibn Mahmud was confined in that fort by the orders of the Amir Maudud, he brought him back and placed him upon the throne, ‘Ali having reigned for a period of about three months. This event took place in the year 443 H. (1051 A. D.).
