On Monday, the 3rd De, I went to see the fort of Ranthamhor. There are two hills adjacent to each other, one is called Ran, and the other Thamhor, and the fort stands on the latter. The name of Ranthamhor is formed by the connexion of the two names. Although the fort is very strong, and has much water in it, yet the hill called Ran is still stronger and better situated, and the fort can be taken only from that side.
