Transformation is well known to be threefold, according to the distinction of property-transformation, character-transformation, and state-transformation. The perception of blue and the like by the mind, which is the substrate of properties, is property-transformation, just like a bracelet, crown, armlet, and so forth [made] of gold. The presentness and so forth of a property is character-transformation. The clarity and so forth of the perception of blue and the like is state-transformation, whereas the newness, oldness, and so forth of a bracelet and the like is state-transformation. In the same way, the triad of transformations should be inferred elsewhere as well, as appropriate. And likewise, because mental modifications such as the means of valid cognition are properties of the mind, their cessation also resides in that very [mind]; thus nothing is untenable.
