The word 'either' is used precisely to dispel the suspicion that liberation too is [mere] deep sleep.
In the Brahmatarka it is said: / 'Without conventional usage and etymological derivation, no meaning at all could belong to the Veda. / Even among them, the etymological is primary; it is present everywhere in what is Vedic. / To prevent infinite regress, conventional usage is posited upon the etymological; / specific knowledge of what is known, as well as worldly convention, comes from conventional usage.'
