aṅganāliṅganāj janyasukham eva pumarthatā /
kaṇṭakādivyathājanyaṃ duḥkhaṃ niraya ucyate //
Pleasure born from embracing a woman is the sole human aim; / the pain caused by the prick of a thorn and the like is called hell.
The pleasure that comes of embracing women is man's aim; the pain from thorns and the like is called hell.
