pāṇikarmaṇā pāṇighaṇṭāpraśleṣo bhavati tasmiṃś ca sati śabdasantāno notpadyate ataḥ śravaṇānupapattiḥ/
By the action of the hand, contact between the hand and the bell occurs, and when that exists, the series of sounds is not produced; hence hearing cannot occur.
