nanu ca sati dharmiṇi dharmāścintyante, pradhānasyaiva dharmiṇo 'labdhasiddhitvāt kathamavivekyādītyāha-
[Objection:] But surely, properties are investigated only when the property-bearer exists; since the existence of primordial matter itself, which is the property-bearer, has not been established, how can it be unseparated, and so forth? In response, he says:
