karaṇaṃ trayodaśavidhaṃ tadāharaṇadhāraṇaprakāśakaram /
kāryaṃ ca tasya daśadhāhāryaṃ dhāryaṃ prakāśyaṃ ca //

The instrument is thirteenfold; it accomplishes grasping, retaining, and illuminating;
And its effect is tenfold: to be grasped, to be retained, and to be illuminated.
