aha tammi nīrapunnē aṇōrapārammi saravarē hatthī
gayaṇāō nīsahaṅgō paḍiō buḍḍō ya jalamajjhē

Then, into that boundless great lake filled with water, / the elephant, its limbs powerless, fell from the sky and sank into the middle of the water.
