“Venerable Sir! In this Ratnaprabhā earth, in the numerably-extended hells among the thirty hundred-thousand hellish abodes, do right-view inhabitants of hell take birth? Do wrong-view inhabitants of hell take birth? Do right-and-wrong-view inhabitants of hell take birth?”
“Gautama! Right-view inhabitants of hell take birth, wrong-view inhabitants of hell also take birth, but right-and-wrong-view inhabitants of hell do not take birth.”
“Venerable Sir! In this Ratnaprabhā earth, in the numerably-extended hells among the thirty hundred-thousand hellish abodes, do right-view inhabitants of hell pass away [from there]?” “Just the same.”
“Venerable Sir! In this Ratnaprabhā earth, in the numerably-extended hells among the thirty hundred-thousand hellish abodes, are the hells unbereft of right-view inhabitants of hell? Unbereft of wrong-view inhabitants of hell? Unbereft of right-and-wrong-view inhabitants of hell?”
“Gautama! They are unbereft of right-view inhabitants of hell; they are also unbereft of wrong-view inhabitants of hell; [and] they are unbereft or bereft of right-and-wrong-view inhabitants of hell. Thus in the innumerably-extended ones also, the three turns should be spoken. Thus also for Śarkarāprabhā; thus up to Tamā.”
“Venerable Sir! In the Adhaḥsaptamī earth, in the five Anuttara […] up to in the numerably-extended hell, do right-view inhabitants of hell—[the question is asked].”
“Gautama! Right-view inhabitants of hell do not take birth, wrong-view inhabitants of hell take birth, right-and-wrong-view inhabitants of hell do not take birth. Thus also regarding their passing away. As for ‘unbereft’, it is just as for Ratnaprabhā.”
“Thus in the innumerably-extended ones also, the three turns [should be spoken].”
