kimidaṃ bhaṃte! samayakhette tti pavuccati?
goyamā! aḍḍhāijjā dīvā, do ya samuddā, esa ṇaṃ evaie samayakhetteti pavuccati|
tattha ṇaṃ ayaṃ jaṃbuddīve dīve savvadīva-samuddāṇaṃ savvabbhaṃtare| evaṃ jīvābhigamavattavvayā neyavvā jāva abbhiṃtara-pukkharaddhaṃ joisavihūṇaṃ|

"Venerable Sir, what is this that is called the 'realm of time' (samayakṣetra)?"
"Gautama! Two and a half continents and two oceans: this very extent is called the 'realm of time'.
Therein, this Jambūdvīpa continent is the innermost of all continents and oceans. In this manner, the exposition of the Jīvājīvābhigama should be understood up to the inner half of Puṣkara, devoid of [the account of] astral bodies."
