"Now, Venerable Sir, the souls that transition into the tubers of these, namely, sāli, vīhi, godhūma, java, and javajava—from where, Venerable Sir, do those souls take birth?" Thus under the heading of "tuber", the entire root uddeśaka is to be stated without remainder, up to: many times or infinitely many times. "So it is, Venerable Sir! So it is, Venerable Sir!"
21.1.2.809

Thus the uddeśaka on the trunk also is to be understood.
21.1.2.810
evaṃ tayāe vi uddeso bhāṇiyavvo|
Thus the uddeśaka on the bark also is to be stated.
21.1.2.811

ee satta vi uddesagā aparisesaṃ jahā mūle tahā neyavvā|
The uddeśaka on the leaf also is to be stated. These seven uddeśakas are to be understood without remainder just as in [the uddeśaka on] the root.
21.1.2.814
evaṃ pupphe vi uddesao, navaraṃ–devā uvavajjaṃti jahā uppaluddese| cattāri lessāo, asīti bhaṃgā| ogāhaṇā jahanneṇaṃ aṃgulassa asaṃkhejjaibhāgaṃ, ukkoseṇaṃ aṃgulapuhattaṃ, sesaṃ taṃ ceva|
sevaṃ bhaṃte! sevaṃ bhaṃte! tti|
jahā pupphe evaṃ phale vi uddesao apariseso bhāṇiyavvo| evaṃ bīe vi uddesao| ee dasa uddesagā|
Thus also the uddeśaka on the flower, with the exception that gods take birth, as in the Utpala uddeśaka. There are four lesyās, eighty alternatives. Physical embodiment is at minimum an innumerable fraction of an aṅgula, at maximum a few aṅgulas; the rest is just the same. "So it is, Venerable Sir! So it is, Venerable Sir!" As for the flower, so the uddeśaka on the fruit is to be stated without remainder. Thus also the uddeśaka on the seed. These are the ten uddeśakas.
