‘Venerable Sir! Compared to the celestial abodes of Śakra, the Indra and King of Gods, are the celestial abodes of Īśāna, the Indra and King of Gods, slightly higher and slightly more elevated? Or, compared to the celestial abodes of Īśāna, the Indra and King of Gods, are the celestial abodes of Śakra, the Indra and King of Gods, slightly lower and slightly more sunken?’
‘Yes, Gautama, the entire matter regarding Śakra is to be understood in the very same way.’
‘Venerable Sir, for what reason is it said thus?’
‘Gautama, just as the palm of a hand might be high in one place, elevated in one place, low in one place, and sunken in one place; for that reason, Gautama, [the celestial abodes] of Śakra, the Indra and King of Gods, up to are slightly more sunken.’
