“Why, Venerable Sir, did Śakra, the king of the gods, the lord of gods, and Camara, the Asura-king, king of the Asurakumāras, give help to King Kūṇika?”
“Gautama! Śakra, the king of the gods, the lord of gods, was an associate from a past life; Camara, the Asura-king, king of the Asurakumāras, was an associate through a mutual pact. In this way indeed, Gautama, Śakra, the king of the gods, the lord of gods, and Camara, the Asura-king, king of the Asurakumāras, gave help to King Kūṇika.”
