"Venerable Sir, is doubt-producing deluding karma made by jīvas?"
"Yes, [Gautama,] it is made."
"Venerable Sir, is it: 1. made in part by a part [of the soul]? 2. made as a whole by a part? 3. made in part by the whole? [or] 4. made as a whole by the whole?"
"Gautama! 1. It is not made in part by a part; 2. it is not made as a whole by a part; 3. it is not made in part by the whole; 4. it is made as a whole by the whole."
"Venerable Sir, is doubt-producing deluding karma made by inhabitants of hell?"
"Yes, it is made."
"Venerable Sir, is it: 1. made in part by a part? 2. made as a whole by a part? 3. made in part by the whole? [or] 4. made as a whole by the whole?"
"Gautama! 1. It is not made in part by a part; 2. it is not made as a whole by a part; 3. it is not made in part by the whole; 4. it is made as a whole by the whole.
In this way the serial exposition is to be spoken up to the Vaimānikas."
